![]() ![]() Unfortunately, that means Tommy has been terrorizing more than one family for decades. As a matter of fact, there is a point in this story that refers to the first Tommy Taffy tale in past tense, so it's established that this Tommy nightmare takes place after the first one. The Third Parent by Elias Witherow is not the same story featured at Thought Catalog. Held captive in their own house, they must face a growing storm of mental and physical trauma as they try to just stay alive.īut even if Jack can survive the horror of his childhood, will his tormentor ever leave him alone? And who is he really? ![]() That's what Jack and his family were told. And it starts with a knock at the door.įollow his rules. For a quiet suburban neighborhood, things are about to change. No one dares ask about his strange physical abnormalities. I didn't even want to answer my door whenever someone knocked. Part of me was excited because Elias Witherow is an excellent story-teller who could put the Crypt Keeper to shame, but the Tommy Taffy stories truly gave me nightmares for months. ![]() Freddy, Pinhead.even those goblin things from Phantasm don't compare to The Third Parent, so when Witherow finally released a full-length novel featuring the terrifying visitor, Tommy, I had mixed feelings. That is where I discovered the scariest monster I've ever encountered in the horror genre: Tommy Taffy. Redbubble - first stumbled across Elias Witherow at the Creepy Catalog section of Thought Catalog. So for this commission, my friend wanted a little comic of Riley stretching their jaw really wide to eat the villain of the story that tries way too hard to be frightening to the point where he's trying way too hard, Tommy Taffy, (like they do with the pizza delivery guy in the first episode of Less is Morgue ) while Evelyn cheers her friend on with pom poms (with Evelyn's bubbly personality, I think it would be fitting if she tried cheerleading while she was alive. Not by any stretch of the word.ĭid you go on crazy adventures with your alcoholic mad scientist grandfather? Oh wait, I highly doubt I'll get to the sequels anytime soon, because once you've read the first Tommy Taffy story, you've read them all.Īnd my childhood wasn't normal. This story introduces a character named Tommy Taffy, who has grown to be one of the most infamous nosleep monsters, to the point where some consider him the unofficial mascot of the sub, and was featured in three more of the author's stories. But this is not one of them, at least if you ask me. He has provided some of the most popular stories on that sub, and some of them are very good. I have nothing against author Elias Witherow, as he is clearly a talented writer. Creepypasta riffs - Third ParentOkay, I am going to get a LOT of flack for this riff, as this is one of the most popular stories ever posted on r/nosleep. If anyone wants more detail, my friend did a riff on the nosleep story here - but be warned, it gets VERY messed up. Long story short, this is one of those stories that tries way too hard to be scary and haphazardly throws in some really icky subject matter just for the sake of it out of nowhere, including some overly detailed descriptions of molestation that goes into WAY too much detail to the point where it just feels like it's put in for shock value. My friend told me a bit of trivia that many of the cast members involved with Less is Morgue also worked on the Nosleep Podcast, and that meant that because some of them worked on nosleep as well, that means there is a link between Less Is Morgue and a nosleep story that both me and my friend really dislike, Third Parent. Another Less is Morgue based commission for my pal - given I listened to some more episodes of this podcast lately, this is very fitting. ![]()
